Kayiok’s review of A long walk to water

This is a story that reminded me of my early childhood. All the things I did when I was young, are all written in this book.
A Long walk to water

Salva had the worst childhood. A boy who’s in school,  had no stress, had never seen a bullet and bang! Finds himself in the bush.  It was very tough for him. Being left out sleeping because he’s young? That wasn’t right at all. Any time he finds a close friend, they get killed either by animals or people. I could not bear this situation.

And after finding a place to hide in Ethiopia, they get kicked out, forced into the Nile river. A river with a lot of water and dangerous animals like Crocodiles.

I am happy for him when he stepped up to be the leader on their way to Kenya. He knew it’s a hard task, but still he did it. That’s such brave decision.

Salva was among the luckiest guys. He had a chance to go to America. For him this is a new beginning.

Most importantly, even if he was now living a better life in States, he didn’t forget his people. I want to be like that.

It’s a great book. Worth reading.
